Carolyn Wolf-Russell is a primarily self-taught artist who grew up in a small town in Wisconsin. Her mother encouraged both her, and her older brother to explore their creativity with boxes of colored pencils, watercolors, and even the infamous paint-by-number kits! When she wasn’t making a mess in the house she was outside with her friends, turning over rocks and exploring the Midwestern landscape with its flora and fauna.
Carolyn has an insatiable creative urge and will use anything she can get her hands on to express it. Her creativity refuses to be confined to any one medium for profession. She has done airbrushing, murals, clothing art, lost wax jewelry, even custom designs on motorcycles, motorhomes and trailers.
Carolyn seems to have found a comfortable niche in the organic and sculptural quality of gourds. Not only are they a natural, once living material endowed with their own beauty, they have the unique ability to accept any medium or artistic process her imagination and experience can come up with.
